The big news of the day was the same sex marriage ruling in the US, which makes same sex marriage legal in all 50 states! We did a special drive today for Switchboard in honor of Harry Styles' bday to celebrate the ruling and we raised several hundred dollars!

$5 Day for Zayn Malik's Birthday Charity Drive to Show Our Appreciation for Zayn

We're so sad Zayn has left 1D, but we understand he needs to do what's best for him. The charity drive for this year is still going to continue as planned (and we'll keep including Zayn as part of the drive as long as you guys want us to - once a 1D member, always a 1D member is my motto!). 

So, we're going to do a $5 day today to show our appreciation for Zayn. Show him how much he means to us by donating at least $5 (or 5 of your currency) and support The British Asian Trust.

Loose Change for Zayn

Would you like to contribute to Zayn’s Charity Drive, but feel like you can’t afford to donate much? Well regardless of the amount, The British Asian Trust is grateful for any contribution! No donation is too small. Here’s a great way to not only give what you can, but also to DOUBLE your donations! 

We are issuing a matching challenge titled Loose Change for Zayn! 

How does it work?

Courtney (ninicutiepie) has offered to match loose change donations for Zayn up to $100 a month! That means there could be an extra $100 raised for the charity per month!! So if you donate $5, then that means your donation will be doubled to $10. If you donate $10, your donation will be doubled to $20, and so on. 

Remember, there is no minimum to how much you can donate! Regardless of the amount, your donation will be doubled! :-D

What do you have to do?

1. Dump out your purses, backpacks, coin jars, couch cushions, pockets, anywhere where you might have any “loose change.” Buy something and get “change.” Then take that and donate it here. 

2. Add Loose Change for Zayn in your donation message to have your donation matched. 

Example:

Your donation will help support The British Asian Trust which reaches out to the poorest people in South Asia. Their vision is to “unlock the life potential of disadvantaged people…and be a catalyst for change, ultimately creating a South Asia that is free of poverty, injustice and inequality.”

What's Coming Up with the Charity Drives?

We have a bunch of activities planned for each of the charity drives! 

Louis:

  • On February 22nd, we'll be doing a $5 day in honor of Eden Dora Trust's birthday! We've also got some items from Eden Dora Trust that we'll be both selling and auctioning off! 
  • Louis' newest wristbands have been ordered and will be up in the store as soon as they get here. They are teal and say #bravery on them!
  • I got my first Hedgehog Louis, but OMG he's going to be hard to dress. He has little arms and a big ole booty so we'll see what we can do! I already have the first outfit mostly planned! 

Niall:

  • We have some March madness raffles coming up - still being planned!

Liam:

  • Liam's drive is going to have an auction of a special limited edition item soon (Layne just sent it to me so I think it should arrive tomorrow). 

Zayn: 

  • Zayn's team are planning festival bracelets, most likely in Rasta colors to match Zayn's in-ears! 

Girl Almighty:

  • The $5 instead of 50 Shades brought in some donations for Women's Aid so that's awesome! 

Harry:

  • We've added a couple of new tshirt designs. Look how great the rainbow banana shirt turned out:

The best news for the Harry Team was that LLGS has decided to joint Just Giving! This means we will be able to offer you a donation link that's user-friendly and tracks percent donated! The total will also be displayed in US Dollars, which will make my life easier (if I never have to convert pounds to dollars again, I'll be a happy girl)!

Just a Quick Update!

My girlfriend is coming for a pre-Valentine's Day visit so my computer time will be limited for the next week or so, but I just wanted to let you know we have a lot going on behind-the-scenes!

We've got teams for each of the guys' birthday charity drives as well as our special Girl Almighty drive to support Women's Aid, a charity providing assistance to women and children affected by domestic violence. 

We're planning new designs for the charity gear stores as well as some really cool auctions and giveaways! If you'd like to be a part of the planning effort, check out the Team page and contact one of the team leaders.

We should have Harry's charity drive link up later this month. LLGS is going to discuss setting up a page on Just Giving and will let us know the results of that meeting. But either way, we will be supporting LLGS for Harry's 2016 Birthday Charity Drive!
